“It takes a village to raise a child”

Our daughter was born in New Orleans where we had recently relocated and were missing a strong support system. The teachers at our daughter’s early learning center were our Village, who helped make our transition from a young couple to a family of 3 a memorable one. Even during the uncertain times in 2020, they were a big reason for our daughter’s continued learning and development. Having experienced firsthand the importance of early learning facilities for our family, we are keen on doing our bit in the community and creating opportunities for young families to benefit from quality early childhood education and experiences.

Born to an engineer and an accomplished English teacher, Sumedh is himself a Chemical Engineer with a Ph.D. from Rice University with a passion for teaching and mentoring. He works in the energy industry in Houston and is an avid runner and cyclist.

Pooja is a Computer Engineer with a Masters from the University of Florida (Go Gators!). She works in the E-commerce industry helping companies enhance their online business. Pooja enjoys painting and spends her time volunteering in the community with several non-profits primarily catered toward education and career development for young women!

We are passionate about providing quality early learning resources in our community. We both genuinely believe that it’s important to help develop “good humans” who can make the world a better place for us all.

We are privileged to be part of the community and really look forward to partnering and welcoming your family to our Ivy Kids family! Contact us to learn more about our innovative curriculum, nutrition program, experienced teachers, and our safe, nurturing, spacious facility. Our goal is to be part of the lives of the future corporate citizens of this world and to help make Ivy Kids your child’s home-away-from-home while you work.

Dawn Cerny

Hello everyone! I am so happy to welcome you to the Ivy Kids of Peek family!
My name is Dawn Cerny. I am originally from Southern California but consider myself a Texan now. I have been in the profession of early childhood education for over 20 years. I spent many years working inside the classrooms as an early childhood educator. I also have many years of experience working directly as a residential counselor and mentor to at-risk youth. Having experienced first-hand the hardships for at-risk youth, I know the importance of a quality education, positive modeling, and conscious discipline in the early years of children. I happily reside in Houston with my two handsome boys. My rockstar Ethan is 17 with aspirations of becoming an educator himself with a focus in mental health. My baby boy Seth is 15 and has turned this mom into a fan of football as he aspires to go all the way with his passion for the sport. I have enjoyed
watching my 2 boys grow from rambunctious little boys to young men trying to find their way in the world. And although they tower over me, they are always going to be “mama’s boys.” We enjoy watching sports together and hanging out, they are my world and every reason I strive to be successful. When I am not spending time with them, I enjoy hanging out with friends, traveling, reading a good book, and creating masterpieces in my she shed. As Director of Ivy Kids of Peek, I take great pride in knowing that our learning center is one that strives for excellence and quality in education and care. I am committed to keeping your child safe and healthy during these times without limiting the essentials they need to be happy, thriving children. I am dedicated to helping all my families along their journey of raising children. I believe strongly in the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child.” With my door always open, I am excited and grateful to be a part of this journey with you. I cannot wait to meet you!
